Portals, the first piece in the Celestials series, is a 24" diameter, 8 1/2" deep laser cut plywood sculpture, hand stained and finished.

 

Its composition and color represent the complex simplicity of the universe and our inadequate attempts grasping to understand our existence. Our siloed explorations into physics, astronomy, evolution, and spirituality among other subjects combined with our recent turn, as a species, to a materialistic culture has severed our ties to the planet, each other, and our intuitive subconscious.
