the sacred fire
-Psychedelic Science 2025-
The Sacred Fire is an interactive 12’ diameter artificial fire including sacred altars honoring the four directions, programmed LEDs, and mapped projection surrounded by lounge seating. The first version was created and installed for Psychedelic Science 2025 in the heart of the Sacred Space Station's Tea Lounge at the Colorado Convention Center. It was a de-programmed space for ceremony, storytelling, song, and authentic connection. Created with a compressed 3 day schedule and VE'd budget the Sacred Fire's design has continued to evolve after PS25. The next iteration is primed to activate future events and could even be an iconic permanent centerpiece for any psychedelic lounge wanting to elevate their space.

The Sacred Fire Concept:

Gathering around a tribal fire is ingrained in our fiber as humans. It is where our ancestors have communed since time immemorial to share wisdom through ceremony, song, and stories passed down from generation to generation. In our current construct, the tribal fire surfaces in our most authentic spaces. They are integral aspects of shamanic ceremonies, festivals, and family campouts where we’ve spent intentional time and effort to retreat from the daily grind and reconnect with ourselves and with nature.
At its essence a sacred fire is the hearth, a source of warmth and community, our earliest form of shelter from the rugged wilderness; we are instinctively drawn to and captivated by it. Fire commands respect, and represents the endless cycle of destruction and rebirth. In these spaces we intuitively understand that it is not the most charismatic personality that is given the limelight, but the voices of experience that are respected, and where wisdom is cherished above all else.
Honoring the sacred directions, the mantle of the fire pit incorporates four altars and offering bowls to lay down tobacco, sacred water, and written messages to burn in the sacred fire. At PS25 our team stewarded these offerings throughout the week and burned them in a safe space after the conference was over.
We are honored to have contributed this essential environment to the already incredible Psychedelic Science Conference and are excited to witness the continued co-evolution of this international cultural offering. Special thanks to the build team Lina Skiba, Lisa DiStefano, Benny InoPino, and Julian Bost, as well as the extended Tea Tribe Global crew and Nature Dreamweaver team!
